Who is ESfEQA?

The impact of test results on medical decisions, patient care and wellbeing make high quality standards the central focus of all medical laboratories. Although there are many different approaches to maintaining and improving quality within medical laboratories, ISO 15189:2003 notes that a review of laboratory capability could include results of earlier participation in interlaboratory comparisons, external assessment schemes or the running of trial examination programmes.
ESfEQA (European Society for External Quality Assessment) supports laboratories to assess the quality of their analytical results, with an aim of ultimately improving their performance using well-designed external quality assessment programs.

About the ESfEQA
ESfEQA was founded in Heidelberg/Germany in 2013 and is accredited by the German national accreditation body DAkkS according to the international standard ISO 17043:2010. Since its foundation, ESfEQA has expanded its program portfolio and at the same time the number of laboratories participating in ESfEQA’s external quality assessment schemes.
ESfEQA offers a variety of external quality tests and over 90 quantitative and qualitative EQA programmes to medical laboratories in the areas of biochemistry, haematology, immunology, molecular diagnostics, and microbiology. Monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual programs from ESfEQA are available to the users and managers responsible for quality standards in medical laboratories. The ESfEQA quality assessment samples and the ESfEQA service are characterised by high quality, reliability, simplicity of use and flexibility.
ESfEQA offers EQA schemes worldwide and cooperates with reliable regional distributors such as AB Scientific. AB Scientific will be the direct business partners of participants in the UK and Ireland. We will be responsible for the ordering process, invoicing, and local shipment of survey samples. To ensure a cost-effective shipping process, survey samples are shipped semi-annually as long as this frequency is permitted by sample stability.
