EDCNet is an internet-based software program, created by the NRL, specifically designed for Serology testing. It allows for the simple collection, management and analysis of QC data in real-time.

Access to this multilingual software is free to our Optitrol customers, and it allows you to compare your results anonymously with other users who are using the same QC/ assay combination, QC lot number, reagent lot and much more. Giving you the full picture to assess the accuracy and prevision of your assays.

The alternative way to look at QC data – QConnect Limits. You can apply our own statistical methodology such as Westguard rules (+-3SD), however EDCNET provides you the option to use QConnect Limits which is a statistical methodology that uses historical data to set assay limits. Where traditional methods are over responsive in serology testing, QConnect Limits gives an easy to interpret daily reference of when testing may be out of control, so you can see variation of concern vs variation that is historically common in an assay/QC combination.

Data sorted by reagent lot number in a peer group setting can allow solid statistical support to individual users seeing variation and questioning whether they are in isolation or others are seeing the same thing. The reagent lots above show reagent lots observed in the above LJ chart sorted by reagent lot, demonstrates there was a fundamental shift down with new lot production for a specific assay manufacturer. Examples such as these can assist both user and manufacturer to identify root cause of variation and whether what variation is of clinical significance.
